Celebrate the history of the Bluff Schuetzenverein, a German marksmanship and social organization which once made its home on the Bluff. Experience the unique traditions of the late 19th and early 20th centuries that honor our German-Texan heritage.

The FREE Family Fest from 11:00 to 7:00 features:

  • Guided tours

  • Living history programs

  • Special exhibits

  • Classes & demonstrations

  • Laser shooting gallery

  • Festival games

  • Food & drinks

Within the Festival grounds is the Texas History on Tap Beer Garden, open 1:00-7:00, a fundraiser where ticketed guests can taste Texas’s brewing heritage and meet the teams behind their favorite breweries.

A fun family event…join us on Saturday, June 1st from 11 am – 2 pm – Make a wish and release a live butterfly in TQM’s Grandmother’s Flower Garden at The Butterfly Jubilee! Also enjoy many other family activities including the "Airing of the Quilts", live music, food, "Plant-a-Memory" gardening activity, "My Favorite Quilt" family activity, The Great Story Fairy, have fun at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter’s Adopt-a-Pet “Snuggle Station”, explore the Butterfly Garden Safari Game, ride the M-K-T “Butterfly Express” children’s train, M-K-T Depot Tours, Shopping Fun & more! This fundraising event benefits the children’s programs at the Texas Quilt Museum and is in collaboration with the M-K-T Depot Museum, the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter, the La Grange Garden Club, the Colorado Valley Quilt Guild, La Grange Mainstreet & Visitors Bureau, and Texas Commission on the Arts.

*You do not need to be present to release your butterfly. We have invited area school children to help us release butterflies for those who live too far away. We will be filming this special event, and it will be made available on TQM’s YouTube Channel soon after the event. So, feel free to make a wish and know that your butterfly is in good hands, while you are supporting the Texas Quilt Museum! =)
