Longtime TQM Supporter, Docent, and Liaison Steps Down

THANK YOU, KAY!

Kay Marburger was celebrated this week at the Colorado Valley Quilt Guild Meeting. Kay has stepped down as the CVQG/TQM Liaison and Volunteer Coordinator (in charge of the Museum’s docent schedule), a position she’s held back since the Museum first opened its doors in 2011.

Laurie Talbert, Kay Marburger, Museum staffer Lauren Bull, Museum co-founder Karey Bresenhan, and Deborah Bradley.

Kay was surprised with a “thank you party” at the Guild’s recent meeting, which was attended by about 40 Guild members along with Museum staff..

“We are SO grateful for Kay and all of her generous and giving efforts to help the Texas Quilt Museum to become what it has today,” Museum Managing Director Deborah Bradley said.

There was cake, punch, a gift, and many pats on her back for Kay’s long years of service to the Museum and the quilting community. To date, the Museum has attracted 70,000 visitors from all 50 states and 60 countries!

The Texas Quilt Museum's new CVQG/TQM Liaison and Volunteer Coordinator is part-time staffer, Laurie Talbert.

Laurie Talbert, Kay Marburger, and Deborah Bradley.

“We love our volunteers! They are so knowledgeable about the quilts on display, and valuable in making the visitors who come to La Grange from all over the world feel at home,” Bradley added.

“We are always in need of help, both with the quilts and in our Grandmother's Flower Garden. My hope is that by adding even more organization to the volunteer program, we will see an increase in our number of volunteers!”
