The Texas Downtown Association has announced that the Texas Quilt Museum is a finalist for a Presidents Award in the Best Renovation/Rehabilitation category. Others in the running for the category award include the Ted Lokey Oil Company Building in Amarillo, and the Main Street Bistro and Bed & Breakfast in Jacksboro. Winners will be announced on Nov. 8 at a Presidents Awards Gala at the Kemp Center for the Arts during the 2012 Texas Downtown Development and Revitalization Conference in Wichita Falls. Judging for the awards was held in Austin on September 6, and judges included representatives from Texas Electric Cooperatives, the Downtown Alliances of San Antonio and Austin, the Kyle Economic Development Corporation, and Community Revitalization Strategies. The TDA Presidents Awards Program recognizes outstanding projects, places, and people from downtowns across the state. Since 1988, over 150 awards have been given.
