Museum co-founders to give free lecture on the International Quilt Festival Collection!
Texas Quilt Museum co-founders
Karey Bresenhan & Nancy O’Bryant PuentesJoin us at the Texas Quilt Museum on Saturday, June 2 at 3 p.m. for a free lecture by Texas Quilt Museum co-founders Karey Bresenhan and Nancy O’Bryant Puentes. They’ll be discussing the two current exhibits which feature quilts from the Collection of the International Quilt Festival. Museum admission is free beginning at 2 p.m.
In addition to their respective positions as President/CEO and Executive Vice President of Quilts, Inc. (producers of the Quilt Festival and Quilt Market shows), these first cousins have been lifelong quilt collectors and authorities on the dating and preservation of quilts. They have authored numerous books together, including the trilogy Lone Stars: A Legacy of Texas Quilts. Bresenhan is also a member of the Quilters Hall of Fame.
The Collection of the International Quilt Festival features hundreds of works across a wide range of styles, materials, eras, and artists. Several dozen of the best have been culled for the current exhibits at the Museum divided in two categories: 19th century quilts and contemporary art quilts.
Come hear Karey and Nancy share stories about their collecting adventures, as well as comment on individual works and take questions from the audience.
