Donate to La Grange Recovery Efforts
The Texas Quilt Museum is located in the heart of La Grange, and while the building and its precious quilts were spared from the floods, many of our friends and neighbors have not been so fortunate. For example, one of our former and beloved employees was one of many residents who lost their homes entirely when the river rose to its highest levels in over 100 years.
We know quilters, and we know that they have the most generous hearts. Many of you have written to ask what you can do to help in the tragedy that has hit our Museum’s little hometown so we have done some research for you.
You can donate here to an online fundraiser set up by the Rotary Club of
La Grange:
https://www.gofundme.com/harvey-response-to-lagrange-victims
All proceeds from this fund will go towards helping strictly La Grange families and local businesses affected by the flood to get back on their feet. Museum co-founder, Karey Bresenhan, is a member of this Rotary and so she knows the funds will be well managed. This is where Karey is donating.
If you prefer to send checks, there is another well-managed fund you can donate to:
Good Shepherd Fund - Disaster Relief for Fayette County
Prosperity Bank
202 W Colorado St
La Grange, TX 78945
Thank you for all the emails, phone calls, and messages we have received offering help and asking what you can do. Making a donation to either of these funds is the best way to help those members of our community who need it the most, not just for their short term needs but their long term ones too.
Thank you,
Karey Bresenhan and Nancy Puentes
